Rosemary Waugh is an art critic, journalist and copywriter specialising in theatre, dance and visual art.
Her work has been published in the New Statesman, TLS, Condé Nast Traveller, the Financial Times, The i, the Evening Standard, The Independent, Time Out, Art UK, The Stage and Dance Gazette.
Rosemary is the former Chair the Critics’ Circle Drama Section. During her time in charge, she instigated and organised the first Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards to be held at the National Theatre in March 2025.
Running the Room: Conversations with Women Theatre Directors, a collection of interviews with leading female theatre directors working in the UK, was published by Nick Hern on 16 November 2023.
She is currently working on: Building the World: Conversations with Women Theatre Designers, a collection of interviews with the UK’s leading set, costume, lighting and sound designers. Due for publication by Nick Hern in 2027.
